March for Babies 2009

Once again we participated in the March for Babies 2009. This year was different for me, for once I wasn't walking with the thought of having future biological children. I got really sad and began crying. Aiden comforted me by telling me "It's okay Mommy, I miss Colin too." Amazingly perceptive that little one is! For the first time ever I questioned why we were walking. I was feeling sad that the "research" we were walking to support hadn't worked for us.

We're about to start.

We've started!

We walked about five miles. We chose this walk because the website said it was 3 miles and all of the others around us said they were six miles. The website lied! :)

The boys walked alot of it. Somewhere around here I asked Patrick, "What's the point?" I was really upset by this point. Then, Patrick pointed to the boys and said, "We're walking for our grandchildren Angie." He is so right. It all came flooding back into perspective. I never want my children to go through the pain of losing a child.

We finished!!! We are thrilled that we raised over $300 this year! Thank you for all of your support!

Birthday Scavenger Hunt

For my birthday, Patrick let me sleep in! When I woke up, there was no one here and I was able to take a shower and get ready in peace, all by myself! I even had time to remove my old toe nail polish!

An Open Letter to the Grandparents

Dear Papa, Mimi, Grandaddy, Nan, and Mema,

You have two of the most incredible grandsons! I was pondering today how much I love my boys. They both have such incredible compassionate hearts, astounding intelligence, and such humor! They are truly amazing little boys.

As I was pondering, I began looking through old pictures. Yep, I'm a little sentimental and emotional today, don't know why. It began to occur to me that we've taken alot of pictures in their short lives. It also began to be very clear that one of you is in each of those pictures about seventy-five percent of the time. I am amazed at the lengths you go to for these children. I am so blessed by your love for us! That the boys are incredible is a true reflection of you.

Each of you has taught them something very special. Sometimes it's even something Patrick and I approve of! :) Seriously, you have opened doors to widen their horizons and I truly appreciate that. Thank you for the phone calls, the packages, the cards, the gifts, and the traveling to be with us. Thank you for "thinking outside the box" when it comes to gift giving! Thank you for making sure they are taught manners and music. Thank you for making sure our home has a small library for them! Thank you for encouraging them in their interests. Thank you for respecting our decisions as parents! Thank you for listening to them and for having inside jokes with them. Thank you for keeping up with what they like to do! Thank you for staying with them in order to allow Patrick and I to date. I've watched grandparents that do not want to have anything to do with their grandchildren. I truly don't understand that. I'm so glad that is not the case in our family. I love that you jump at the chance to spend time with Aiden and Anthony.

You love without restraint. I cannot tell you how much you are loved in return. Our boys talk about all of you constantly. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love all five of you more than you will ever know. But, I love you even more for loving my babies the way you do! I know I don't tell you often enough, and I'm sorry, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! You are awesome grandparents!

Max

Last night I put our boys to bed at their normal bedtime, 8:30. Around 10pm I realized that there was noise coming from the bedroom, so I put down my really good book, and went to check on them. Aiden was at the door. He told me his tummy hurt. Being the good Mom that I am, I ignored that. It was very obvious that his tummy was fine and he just wasn't going to sleep. So, I hugged him and told him I'd leave the door open in case he needed me and that I would check on him in a few minutes, but he had to go to sleep.

I went back to reading my book in the living room. Several times I told Aiden to be quiet and still. About the fifth time I did this, I looked up and our cat, Max, was sitting on the floor in front of my chair. He looked up at me and meowed really loud. I jokingly said, "Well if it's bothering you so much you put him to bed!" Max got up and walked to the boys bedroom. After a few minutes I got curious! I got up and went to the bedroom too.

Max was curled up in Aiden's bed and Aiden was snoring away in dreamland! When I walked in the room Max made a noise, not a meow or a purr, but in between. He makes that noise when he's really happy with himself! He had put the baby to sleep! I said, "Thank you Max!" Then, I reached down and pet him. He jumped off the bed and curled up on the chair in the living room and went to sleep.

I put Max in charge of nap time today, giving me time to blog!

Anthony School

The past few days have been hard on Anthony. He's had to watch his big brother do fun things without him. When we lived in Macomb, Anthony didn't really care if Aiden went to school without him. Since we've moved, that has changed. I think Anthony has figured out what he's missing out on, especially since Aiden loves school here so much! We could have enrolled Anthony in preschool, but we really wanted the boys to spend some time apart. We also wanted Anthony to have some one on one time with Mommy for another year.

So, we've started "Anthony School" here at Bailey, Inc. When Aiden goes to school Anthony and I spend some time doing various activities that revolve around the same theme Aiden's preschool is doing for the day. We are both really enjoying it!

Aiden had a great day! He brought home a painting and a bird he had made. This is what his teacher said, in an e-mail to me, later that day.

"What a great day we had today! Aiden was so cute meeting all his new friends. He seemed to especially like Logan and Billy. They all played so well together. I have to say that you would never know that it was Aiden's first day with how well he followed the routine and he was such a great listener. I love having Aiden in my class!! He loved cutting and painting and he did very well at tracing his name. We will continue working on fine motor skills every day. He may tell you that we couldn't play the computer today. I started the game and there was no sound, so now I figured out the problem and we will play computer on Wed. Everything today went very smoothly and it was a really fun day."

I feel so blessed that God lead us to this preschool! Mrs. Amy is excellent!!! Off to do Aiden's homework for school tomorrow!
